The F1 generation is the first generation of Bernedoodles. We are saying the main because this is the very first cross to get the Bernedoodle. There are two different dogs used in this cross, which is the Bernese mountain dog and the Poodle. The Bernese mountain dog intelligence and the poodle look give birth to a perfect Bernedoodle dog. In this cross the usually a male Bernese mountain dog is used with the female Poodle. So we can say that the Bernedoodle obtains from this cross is 50% Bernese mountain dog and 50% poodle.
F1b is the second category of the first generation as clear from the name F1b. So we can say this is the subsequent generation of the first generation. When we talk about the parents, the Poodle is used in this cross as well. But here a Bernedoodle of the first generation is crossed with a poodle as compared to Bernese mountain dog. Usually, a male Bernedoodle of F1 generation crossed with a female poodle. So we can say that the Bernedoodle obtains from this generation is 25% Bernese mountain dog and 75% poodle.
F2 is the second primary generation of the Bernedoodles as clear from the name F2. In this generation of the Bernedoodle, the Bernese mountain dog and the Poodle are not cross directly. In this generation, the male and the female dog are both get from the first generation of the Bernedoodles. A male Bernedoodle of F1 generation can cross with a female Bernedoodle of the F1 generation. So we can say that the Bernedoodle obtains from this generation is 50% Bernese mountain dog and 50% poodle.
F2b is the second category of the second generation as clear from the name F2b. So we can say this is the subsequent generation of the second generation. The Bernese mountain dog and Poodle are not cross directly in this generation as well. In this generation, a Bernedoodle of F1 generation is crossing with the Bernedoodle of F1b generation. There are no specific rules for males and females in this generation. Moreover, we can say that the F2b is a second-generation back-cross Bernedoodle. So we can say that the Bernedoodle obtains from this generation is 62.5% poodle and 37.5% Bernese mountain dog.
From all the above discussion, we can conclude that the primary parents of the Bernedoodles are Bernese mountain dog and the Poodle. But we can further classify their parents depending upon the different generations of the Bernedoodles.
